First off, what is a LUT? LUT stands for look up table. This term is used to describe a predetermined array of numbers that provide a shortcut for a specific computation. In simple terms it is a preset color look for whichever media you are working with. LUTs allow you to take complete creative control in how your photo, video, or even virtual media will look. There are different ways in which a LUT can be the ultimate customisation for your work.

  • LUTs are universal. They can be used for many programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, Affinity photo, even Spark AR.
  • LUTs are easily available. There are endless free LUTs available online.
  • LUTs make for light work. You can also use presets from programs such as Photoshop or Lightroom, turn them into LUTs, save them and use them over and over.

With all the benefits, versatility, and control its easy to see why any creator should look into using LUTs. LUTs make editing simple.
